| BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Nguyen Dang Mau is a Mid-tier Researcher at Vietnam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change. Dr. Nguyen Dang Mau has nearly 20 years of research and teaching in the field of meteorology, climate, climate applied in construction and socio-economic, climate change at Vietnam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change and training institutions. Dr. Nguyen Dang Mau is a key member in developing and updating the scenario of climate change and sea level rise for Vietnam announced by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment (2009, 2012, 2016 and 2022); key members participating in important reports on climate change at national, ministerial and local levels; main member participating in the construction of QCVN 02:2022 of the Ministry of Construction.

Over the years, Dr. Nguyen Dang Mau has built a Vietnamese urban climate research team consisting of domestic experts (from: Vietnam Institute of Meteorology, Hydrology and Climate Change, Vietnam Institute for Building Science and Technology, Transport Development & Strategy Institute, Hanoi University of Natural Resources and Environment, Hanoi University of Sciences – Vietnam National University Hanoi) and international (from: University of Tsukuba – Japan, University of Salford and University of Nottingham – UK, The Institute for Social and Environmental Transition (ISET), Center for Climate Risk Solutions under FM Global – USA). In particular, the focus of research on urban climate and urban climate risks includes: (i) Urban climate assessment and housing climate; (ii) Urban climate extremes and impacts (iii) Modeling the impact of strong winds on construction; (iv) The role of green zones (crops, lakes) and housing to the urban climate; (v) Estimation of urban climate change due to the simultaneous impacts of climate change and urbanization; (vi) Solutions to respond to urban climate change.
